Why I deserve the CampusRN scholarship

I knew I wanted to be a nurse when I was 15. In my sophomore health class,
a nurse came to talk to us about drunken driving accidents with teenagers
and the importance of vehicle safety. She showed some pretty gruesome
pictures of totaled cars and mangled bodies. I remember thinking, after her
presentation, not only how horrible that is for those kids, but what an
exciting job! Saving people, that is something I want to spend my life
doing.
In the past four years, the type of nurse I want to be has changed some,
but the end goal is still the same, to help people. I want to be someone who
is there to hold the hand of people when they are hurting. I want to make a
difference by speaking out for those who have no voice; the elderly, the
disabled, and the impoverished. Being a nurse will put me in a position,
where every day, I will be able to make a difference to the people who need
it the most.
I feel that I was very fortunate to be admitted to Oregon Health and
Science University. It is a privilege to attend one of the most prestigious
nursing schools in the country. Every day at OHSU, is exciting, interesting,
and every day I learn something new. My goals for my education are to work
hard, but have fun while in nursing school. These next few years are an
experience, where I am transformed a little more every day.
I am a qualified candidate for this scholarship, because I want to make a
difference. I don’t come from a rich background, and am currently paying
for school with student loans. I know I can make the biggest difference to
people if I do not have a financial burden hanging over my head. Receiving
this scholarship will make school less stressful and I will be able to get
more out of my education. If I received this scholarship, the money would be
well spent because I will always make the most out of my education and my
career.
